World Record Attempt to Support the Alee Temple
Donation protected
In less than two weeks, I will attempt to break the Guinness world record for running a half-marathon while pushing 4 kids in 2 strollers simultaneously. But it's not just about the record. I'm also running to raise awareness and support for the Alee Temple here in Savannah.
The Alee Temple is a major supporter of Shriners children, Shriners charities and Shriners children hospitals, and provides direct support to Shriners hospitals located in South Carolina and Florida. Shriners hospitals specialize in treating children with severe burns and neuromuscular conditions and injuries. Bottom line is that their goal is to improve the lives of children who have been less fortunate. If you don't know a child directly who's benefited, I promise that you know someone who does.
In addition, many of the children in our area do not have transportation to their medical appointments and to the hospitals themselves, and Alee Temple Shriners regularly offer transportation and assistance to these children and their families.
I love children and I'm grateful for all the wonderful memories mine have given me, and this is a big reason why this record attempt appealed to me. Instead of running, and playing, many Shriners children have to spend their days in wheel-chairs and strollers. I think it's only fitting that I run this race in their honor.
