Non Profit Virtual Worldschool For BIPOC children

Many know our story. About a year and a half ago, my husband, myself and our three young boys left a traditional house and lifestyle in search of a new and more fulfilling journey. We bought a 7 by 16-foot cargo trailer and converted it into a tiny house on wheels, in which we have lived and traveled in full time ever since. In our five years of homeschooling, we have always been passionate about educating our boys outside of and beyond the bounds of standard public education. Road-schooling has given our boys and even more unique opportunity to learn about life skills, nature and their home country in a way that has not only expanded their thirst for knowledge, but also their passion for travel. Last year we had the opportunity to road-school abroad for three months in Baja California Mexico. During these three months the boys began learning Spanish as a second language. They were exposed to Mexican history and culture firsthand and were even able to meet a chief from one of the indigenous Mexican tribes and participate in a group healing meditation.  However, there was something that stood out to them about this trip. The boys met many other roadschooling children in Mexico, but only ONE other family with children that looked like THEM. This led to many questions and discussions around why BIPOC (black, indigenous, people of color) children are less likely to be seen roadschooling and traveling abroad than "white" children. Our boys are natural leaders and lovers and have been determined to find a solution for this.

Following this experience, they came and asked us a question, “if all kids can't see the world, why can’t we bring the world to them?". This sparked an idea that we are so passionate and excited about and we need the support of our community to help bring it to life.  We are working to create a nonprofit virtual worldschooling academy, aimed towards providing free educational resources and ultimately scholarships to other BIPOC children who may otherwise never have the opportunity. Not only will this academy provide BIPOC (Black, indigenous, people of color) children from marginalized and underserved communities with a virtual worldschool experience, but it will support educators, content creators and business owners from all around the world.

As a non profit, we are relying on sponsors, angel investors and community support to help us raise the funds that we need to make this possible. Raising these funds would be a life changing opportunity for our family, and the fuel we need to give back to our community in a big way.  

The funds we are raising will cover: Travel and research expenses, Non profit fees, necessary services, additional fees necessary for creating our first round of resources such as books, videos, classes, virtual field trips, scholarships etc.

Donations made after the goal has been reached as well as other funding that we seek out will be used towards furthering the progress of the nonprofit, paying  educators and creating world school scholarships for other BIPOC children.
