World Transplant Games 2017, Malaga
Donation protected
My name is Maria, and 2 years ago in June of 2014 at the age of 49 I had a collapsed lung due to Cystic Fibrosis. 6 months later I received a double lung transplant which was a wonderful miracle and I am eternally grateful to my donor's family. My transplant went very badly and unfortunately I lost one of the lungs and spent 5 months in hospital. I now want to make up for lost time and make the most of my second chance of life. I would love to compete in the World Transplant Games in Malaga Spain, starting on the 25th June 2017 and spread the word of how important organ donation is. As I can no longer work in the education system which was my previous job due to cross infection, I would be very grateful for
some financial support to help me get to the games. I have never been a sporty person, but am in training to compete in Table Tennis. The training is good for my rehabilitation, and I am determined to win; so I am practicing very hard. Sport is out of my comfort zone, however I owe this to my donor to embrace the precious gift of life I received
