Preschool Vandalism Donations

On February 26, 2017, for the first time in its history, our treasured WorldTots LA Childcare Center was brutally and senselessly vandalized, displacing our 60 babies and children we take great responsibility for, directly affecting them, their families and our staff. The damage was so extensive that the Center has had to be closed for a week. We suffered broken and ruined equipment, strewn printer toner, fire extinguishers were discharged and sprayed everywhere after a deliberate fire was set. All baby and children’s clothing, blankets, necessary essential items, toys, and educational items were ruined and need to be replaced, just as a basic requirement to be able to provide the minimum to reopen the facility.
The clean up is extensive, and we are extremely conscious of replacing all items so that the children are maintained. It is a massive clean-up effort to restore the facility to a standard that would enable us to allow our precious charges to return to a safe, secure and healthy environment where they can continue to thrive.
We implore and humbly ask your help to contribute to this specific cause to help in bringing our facility back to a high quality childcare facility for our precious babies and children. Although the insurance claim will cover a portion of the damage, we are facing a shortfall of over $15,000 for the clean up effort, and replacing the items that were ruined, so that our families can return to a fully running facility.
For over 23 years, of the YWCA of the Harbor Area and South Bay’s almost 100 years existence in San Pedro, we have cherished and cared for babies and toddlers at the WorldTots LA Childcare Center as part of our childcare program. We are proud to consistently provide high quality, responsible, affordable childcare, and the best care possible to support families in our community.
Your contribution, no matter how small, is so greatly appreciated, and we cannot thank you enough for supporting us and the babies and children that we are so responsible for while in our care, making our best efforts, to launch them into the next level of their childcare development and their future.

With great appreciation and thanks
