Worst Case Scenario Major Car Wreck- Blair Family

In the early morning hours of Sunday, June 25th, the nearly-worst-case-scenario car accident occurred to my older sister, Lexy Blair, a resident of Knoxville, TN for many years now. She was hit head-on by a driver who pulled an illegal u-turn on an interstate, going the wrong direction of travel (it is unreleased at this time whether that driver was under the influence). The driver-at-fault was uninsured, had no driver's license, and had numerous arrest warrants out at the time. He died at the scene. Lexy was transported to UT Medical Center with extensive injuries requiring hospital stays, surgeries, and what will be a very lengthy rehab process with continual medical bills. Her car was also obviously totaled, and she will be unable to return to work for a thus-far unknown but long amount of time.

Lexy's 26th birthday was May 25th, 2023. Her coverage on my parent's health insurance ended on the day of the crash, one calendar month after her 26th birthday, June 25th 2023. Her new health insurance coverage was not set to start until July 1st, 2023.

Between the lack of at-fault drivers insurance, lack of health insurance coverage for Lexy in those precious few days this occurred, major and long-ongoing medical expenses for Lexy, and the at-scene death of the at-fault driver (which limits or removes any legal recourse that could otherwise happen), my family is in a desperate situation.

Everyone, of course, feels extremely blessed that Lexy did not incur any life-threatening injuries and survived this fatal crash in general, but the financial setback and horrific circumstances in every single aspect of this crash is worst case scenario otherwise.
