Worth Every Shot - Bryan & Sandy's IVF Journey

To our friends, family, and community that are supporting us,

We are stepping out of our comfort zone to share our IVF story with you and ask for your support.

For those of you who do not know our story, Bryan and I were married in 2019. During our first year of marriage, starting a family was put on hold as I spent about 1/3 of 2020 away from Bryan in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan taking care of my mom who passed away from Stage 4 cancer and her affairs after her death.

In the fall of 2020, after initial testing, we were told that we were diagnosed with infertility and that our only options for conception were through IUI or IVF. We put starting our family off again when Bryan's father became ill and passed away in 2021, followed by and an uncle and two more aunts in 2022. In 2023, we pursued three rounds of IUI at about $2,000 per round, but were unsuccessful.

Our doctor strongly urged us to begin the IVF process, and we started appointments in May 2024. However, the total cost of one IVF round is in the $18,000-$20,000 range due to additional precautions and complications because of our age. The high cost brings added stress at a time we are hoping to go into the process with open minds and patience.

This was not our original plan to start a family, but we are optimistic that through prayer and God's grace we might have more success with IVF. We are humbled that we have a family and community we can share our story with.
