Support for Ukraine: Wound VAC Dressings:
Hello,
A member of my team, Viktoria Moroz, was born and raised in Ukraine. Her family still lives there, close to the border with Poland. Since February 2022 when Russia invaded, she has been trying to assist in any way possible. Any chance Vik gets, she heads back to Ukraine to help her family and volunteer. She's been using her own money to buy medical supplies and backpacks for medics on the front lines. I created this GoFund Me to amplify her ability to give.
Vik is in Ukraine right now and has spent time at the Main Military Clinical Hospital in Kyiv. She visited with several soldiers recovering at the hospital and met with the staff of volunteers. She was also connected with the Chief Medical Officers of the 9 Ukrainian Air Assault Forces brigades. With the counteroffensive intensifying and Russia not wanting to ease up, the needs are endless. One item that is in high demand is Wound VAC Therapy which helps wounds heal 4 times faster (2 weeks vs 2 months).
We are raising money for the Odessa Charity Foundation "Way Home" as they have a special project to buy and distribute Wound VAC Dressings. For those of you at Palo Alto Networks, here is the SMILE link https://paloaltonetworks.benevity.org/international/project/4PW5RUKDTD
Any funds raised via this GoFundMe will be donated in full via the SMILE Charity link above, since Palo Alto employees have a charitable match from Palo Alto that can be leveraged to further amplify the money.
Thank you for your support!
Liz
How will this project solve this problem?
VAC therapy approach cuts the time to cure a severe wound significantly, from 2 months to 2 weeks by reducing edema, increasing blood flow, significantly lowering microbiological contamination and reducing wound cavity. Our friends KOLO Foundation discovered and acquired 9 devices of 3M VAC Therapy, which they already donated to Kyiv Military Hospital. Way Home Foundation, the Donate2Ukraine and the KOLO Foundation embark on the project's second stage: providing VAC dressings for each victim.
Potential Long Term Impact
Objectives are to increase the number of VAC devices and maintain a consistent supply of VAC dressings to the hospital. We would be able to give these resources with your generous support. The Way Home Foundation will use all raised donations to purchase the materials from the official distributors of the 3M VAC Therapy brand. The Hospital in Kyiv requires 44,000-66,000USD per week for purchasing VAC dressings for healing of injured people. The more we gather, the better we will be able to assist!
In Vik's words:
When the full blown invasion happened last year I honestly thought that I would never see Ukraine. There would be no Ukraine. Russians were proclaiming they would "solve the Ukrainian problem once and for all and that there is no such thing as Ukraine, Ukrainian nation or language. Those who weren't willing to become russians were to be killed or sent off to camps." They spoke of this openly. It is truly horrifying. That's why I am so passionate about helping save lives of civilians and the troops who are defending Ukraine, in any small way that I can. Without them there would be no Ukraine.
On our way to Kiev, we drove past whole towns and villages that are fully deserted, places that don't have a single building or house left standing. It was truly heartbreaking.
