Alyssa’s Medical Bills

Update as of February 2023: Alyssa had a full colectomy, and is getting used to her new life with her colostomy bag. She has remained in and out of the hospital since the original post, being readmitted several times for infections, an abscess, abdominal pain, and low hemoglobin levels. Her family is very appreciative of all the prayers, support, and monetary donations. There is now a blood drive set up in her name if you wish to donate blood at Medic. 

Alyssa was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis in 2020. Without providing too much detail about her condition to spare her privacy, her severity of the disease has inclined rapidly in the past two months. She spent two weeks in the hospital in November, and has recently been readmitted. She has been out of work since the beginning of November without pay. Her husband, Ricky, has had to play both roles as a parent during this time because Alyssa is in a lot of pain. As you can imagine, the medical bills to come are going to be a burden, especially given that Alyssa hasn’t been able to work.
