Hello y'all.

My name is Coach Ron Mendez. I am the head football at Sotomayor High School located in Glassell Park. We are a small LAUSD school located in northeast Los Angeles. We had a special year this past season. After having to cancel last season due to COVID - 19, we started off this season in a rough spot. I had 3 football players come out in the summer for the team. It was frustrating to say the least and at times demoralizing, but we kept pushing through . We had a vision, and we kept working towards it. When the first game of season came around in August we suited up 13 players and played ball. We took our lumps the first couple of games, but we kept working hard, keeping our vision in mind. I kept telling my assistant coach, "If you build it, they will come". Well, by week 4 we had about 20 players. By week 10, we had 30 players. We ended up finishing the season with a 9-2 record and an 8-game winning streak. We dominated the playoffs, and ended up winning the first city championship Sotomayor has ever accomplished in any sport. These young men believed in me, bought in to the program, and worked hard as a unit for one common goal. Our program would like honor these young student athletes and buy them championship rings. We are looking to raise $3,000. Every single dollar raised will go towards championship rings for the kids. Thank you everyone for your time and support. Any donations are greatly appreciated.
