We are coming to you because, yet another young, active, family-oriented parish member has been diagnosed with Cancer. Michael McComb, Jr., St. Christina Class of 1981, Br. Rice Class of 1985 was diagnosed with Stage IV Bladder Cancer in August of 2019. He has undergone radiation and started chemotherapy as part of his fight to beat the disease.
He has been in and out of the hospital on many occasions and was unfortunately not a candidate for a clinical trial at University of Chicago. Mike and his family are truly thankful for the care they have received at Little Company of Mary Hospital and can't say enough about the wonderful doctors and staff that have helped him manage his "new" life with cancer.
Mike is devoted to his wife Kathy, son Matt and daughter Erin. Along with his family, Mike has been an active parishioner of St. John Fisher Parish, spending countless hours coaching basketball, volunteering at school functions, organizing softball teams for the men's club and fundraising. When you couldn't find Mike at St. John Fisher, he could be found working the corner of 103rd and Kedzie raising money for
Misericordia, a charity near and dear to his family. When Mike was done collecting money and passing out jellybeans, he would volunteer at St. Christina Holy Name fields, either running a softball team or cooking burgers for family days....we lovingly refer to him as the grill master. Mike's devotion to his family and to all of his Parishes is an example of who we should all want to emulate.
In an effort to help defray the cost of his hospitalizations, treatments and ongoing medical costs, we are initiating this fundraiser and will be holding a benefit on Sunday, January 26, 2020 at 115 Bourbon Street, 1:00-5:00 pm.
