Help us SAVE OUR BUILDING!

For the past 18 months Kinship Cafe has been creating it’s own vibes to the Strawberry Hill neighborhood! Today we are having to fight for the building and our future as a business here in KCK! On 4/13/23 an offer for $200k was made from a developer on our building and we now are struggling to fight to keep the space for us!
We were informed that we would be displaced from where we currently are and that a parking garage would be built in our buildings place. We also have a solid understanding that a “bidding war” is the desired outcome from our landlord.
With everything happening it just feels like we are fighting for everything we want in our lives. To have given so much to this and sacrificing so much to have it all be taken away or equate to nothing… Kinship Cafe was dreamt and constructed by the owner, TJ Roberts himself. TJ actually despite losing his main source of income during the pandemic, to constructing the building with a deformed hand and only having 7 fingers total, to making all of the food, the roasting of the coffee and serving the community 6 days a week open to close the first 8 months as a business. Deflating isn’t heavy enough of a word to describe this unforeseen series of future events..
This is scary and it’s probs the hardest test and challenge we have ever had to face as a company! If you want to help, here’s how you can do that!
1. DONATE, we would greatly appreciate this!
2. Share the link on your social media platforms.
3. If you have connections to funding opportunities, people in the city local government of KCK or know a good real estate lawyer, along with any tv/pr personalities, we could definitely use that connect!
4. Any acts of kindness, encouraging words, or just come see us a for delicious latte!
We appreciate everyone for the love and support that they’ve shown us over the past 18 months! The idea of us loosing the opportunity to serve ya’ll is saddening and harsh to even fathom. We are super hopeful that our community feels the same way and shows up for us! With much love!
