Write. Hike. Dream.

A lovely and kind woman told me to “Dream big, Lucy!” and here I am doing it. I am dreaming big and wondering if you’ll help me on my journey in making the intangible, well, tangible.
For the last fifteen years, I’ve poured myself into my work and have *hopefully* helped many young writers on their journey of discovering their own unique voices. My hopes and wishes have always been centered around them - wanting these kiddos to figure out who they want to be and how to best communicate their thoughts to others.
So here I am, staring at the soon-approaching date of the start of my semester sabbatical, January 25th, and looking over my Pinterest pages and my journals and notes, trying to figure out how to use this amazing gift of time. With each “What are you going to do?” question thrown my way, two thoughts come to mind. The one I speak aloud is the one which I’ve been waiting to do for ages — to practice what I preach and read, read, read and write, write, write. The one I dare not speak aloud because I don’t know if it is even possible is the one I have kept to myself mostly — to do part of this reading-writing mission in a dream setting.
I return to the same place over and over in my mind because it’s a place that captures many parts of who I am — Interlaken, Switzerland. With its moniker as the adventure capital of Europe, this hiking, biking, nature enthusiast can’t help but feel drawn to the place! With its offers of hiking and nature journaling and resting and reading, Interlaken is calling me. This destination has such a great opportunity for exploration for the body, mind, and spirit.
So thank you for your consideration of making this a tangible dream. Refreshed and ready and with a stack of journals in my back pocket, I’ll return in the fall ready to fuel the fires of another generation of young writers!
