"Writing After Life" Second Book Printing Costs

In 2018, “Writing After Life: Stories from Those Who Served a Life Sentence” (on Amazon) was published, sharing life stories of four individuals who had recently been released from prison. After many inquiries regarding when there would be another book, the time is here!

A second book, yet to be titled, will be published this September. And what great timing as Rise Up Industries is celebrating its 10 Year Anniversary!

This book will feature the stories of four incredible men, all current members of Rise Up Industries in San Diego, California, who have spent years behind bars. These are their stories from childhood, prison, and reentry; stories of struggle, heartbreak, and shame; and at the same time, stories rife with hope, resiliency, love, and humanity.

This fundraiser aims to offset the cost of publication and initial printing so these stories can be shared with a wider audience and further humanize the individuals behind the labels. Your contribution of any amount will make an impact, whether you donate $5 or $100. If you donate at least $30, we’ll be happy to mail you a copy of the book once it’s printed in September. Rise Up Industries is a 501(c)3 nonprofit located in San Diego, California. Its 18-month Reentry Program provides a comprehensive set of services including employment, job-training, case management, tattoo removal, counseling, mentoring, education assistance, financial literacy, life skills, and work ethic development. It is modeled after Homeboy Industries in Los Angeles, the largest gang prevention program in the USA.
