Justice for False ICE Arrest

Donation protected
When I first heard about my sister’s unlawful arrest by ICE, I was flooded by a wide range of emotions rotating from anger, confusion, fear, sadness, and back to anger. If you haven’t read the story yet, you can find it here .

TL;DR - here’s a quick summary:

1. My sister, a Vietnamese woman, is a permanent legal resident of the U.S.

2. On May 23, 2018, she was wrongfully arrested on her front porch and detained by ICE with no warrant or reason.

3. Now she has to spend her resources to battle this false arrest and deportation at the Philadelphia's immigration court.

I am so grateful to everyone who has reached out with resources and contacts to organizations who are currently helping my sister. I am even more grateful that so many folks have offered monetary support, since my sister's legal fees will be considerable. Here's how you can help:

1. DONATE
Support my sister’s legal fund so she can clear her name, and continue the fight against abuse of power.

2. CONTACT
Reach out to your representatives  and Governor Tom Wolf  to share your opinion on the legislation that would impact our immigrant community.

3. ADVOCATE & VOLUNTEER
Many refugee and immigrant organizations are facing defunding and need help. Consider contributing your skills. To get started, here’s a great list of orgs from the City of Philadelphia .

4. BUILD COMMUNITY
Do you have a neighbor or coworker who is a refugee or immigrant? Say hello and let them know they have an ally in you.

5. CREATE DIALOUGE FOR CHANGE
Get informed, know the facts on why having immigrants in the U.S. is important  and then share it in your next conversation.

If there's one thing I've learned through all of this, it's that the current administration's unfavorable policies and bigoted language are not just on tv and all over the internet - they are right here, in our neighborhoods and on our front porches. This environment of xenophobia and racism affects ALL OF US. My sister could have just as easily have been me, and I could have just as easily been any one of you. No one is safe until we're all safe. Thank you so much for your help and concern.

With so much love in my heart,
