Wrongly convicted man seeks clemency after 34 yrs
Donation protected
Robert Webster of Queens, New York, was just 17 years old when he was wrongfully convicted of first degree arson and sentenced to the disproportionate sentence of 50 years to life in prison.
Robert’s case was plagued with issues from the outset. His representation at trial was inadequate and his rights were violated many times over. Evidence of his innocence was never fully explored, with alibis, key witnesses and physical evidence excluded from the trial. During sentencing, Robert was denied due process with an unrelated case influencing the outcome.
Now aged 50, after almost 34 years of fighting for his freedom, Robert is applying to Governor Kathy Hochul for clemency. Robert hopes that Governor Hochul will acknowledge the grave injustice that has occurred in his case and release him, so that he will have an opportunity to live the rest of his life as a free man and contributing member of society.
This fundraiser has been established to help cover the costs of Robert's fight for freedom, and to help him get back on his feet once he finally returns home. All donations, no matter how big or small, are greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your support.
