Share in Shannon's Road to Recovery from Paralysis

On Sunday, October 2, Shannon had been out with friends enjoying the outdoors on a warm autumn night in beautiful Lake Tahoe. She loves her Lake Tahoe home, community, and friends. As always, Shannon was living her life to the fullest and decided to climb up into a tree. The tree had different ideas that night; she fell 30ft to the unforgiving earth below.

With new life challenges revealed, the doctors decided to fuse 5 of her vertebrae and insert pins and rods, while letting her broken ribs and contusions heal on their own. At this point, with a broken back, she cannot walk and has very minimal feeling below her waist. We are hoping for a full recovery, but that may take years, if at all.

Currently, Shannon’s insurance coverage is not completely known and any help is appreciated. Astronomical costs lay ahead of her. We are seeking help with medical treatments, wheelchair, hospital bills, monthly house costs, and hopefully some experimental options so we can get Shannon back in her natural habitat, nature.

She is a person who lights up the world everywhere she goes with her truly genuine exuberant zest for life. Shannon enjoys the great outdoors and we want to get her back out there, hiking, climbing, and biking. All help is appreciated to get her there.
