Let’s help Elizabeth to KICK CANCER TO THE CURB!
If you are reading this then Thank You for allowing us to share Elizabeth’s story with you.
Firstly, let us introduce our friend to you. Elizabeth Martinez is a 52 year old, hardworking, single mother to her three wonderful children – Adrian 23, Cristian 16 and daughter Elyssa 14.
Recently Elizabeth was dealt not one but two shocking, very unexpected blows!
Without any warning, it was announced that the healthcare company she worked for would be closing, and closing quickly. No notice, no severance pay, and worst of all, NO health insurance as the company had self-funded their health care and as such, this meant no COBRA.
As with any mother, stay-at-home or working (although to Elizabeth they are one and the same), taking time for herself, even for crucial things like medical check-ups, were very much toward the bottom of her ‘to do’ list. But now with the impending loss of her medical insurance Elizabeth made it a priority to visit her doctors’ office for those vital checks.
Before she had even had time to digest the news of her job loss she was dealt the second, most unexpected, and heartbreaking blow – her tests showed she had Ductal Carcinoma in Situ – Breast Cancer. Elizabeth’s surgical journey starts August 18, her medical insurance ceases August 21! Because her health insurance is a self-funded plan, there will be NO coverage or benefits whatsoever after August 21.
At this time, there are no firm details as to what the extent of her surgery will be or how her medical costs will mount. One thing we do know for sure, they will mount and for this reason we are reaching out for your help.
If you know/knew Elizabeth like we know her, then you would know she is a fighter and will face this head on with her usual focus and determination, but we want to try and find a way to help so this can be her main focus.
Thank you again for listening, please share Elizabeths’ story with anyone and everyone you can so together we can help her KICK CANCER TO THE CURB.
