Help Interbay P-Patch Recover from Theft

Interbay P-Patch is one of the largest and most active community gardens in Seattle's P-Patch program. Recently we suffered the theft of a custom-made wood-fired pizza oven that had just been delivered. We're asking our community to help us recover the loss.

The pizza oven, which was four feet in diameter, extremely heavy, and still in its packaging, was taken during the night. We planned to install the oven in the courtyard, where it would be the center of garden and community events and serve as a memorial to gardeners who have passed.

Because our garden is on a busy thoroughfare, we're no strangers to vandalism and theft, no matter how hard we try to prevent it. But because of how long we've been planning this project and what it symbolizes, this was a difficult loss.

That's why we're asking for your support. We need to raise $7,000 to replace the oven. Any amount folks can pitch in is appreciated more than we can say, and all donations are tax-deductible. Any gifts made on or after November 1, 2022, up to $2,000 will be matched by an anonymous donor, so your gift goes even further toward helping us meet our goal!

Our garden is funded and maintained by volunteers who are committed to the land and the community. During the growing season, we host weekly Saturday potlucks for anyone who wishes to attend. We hold other community events throughout the year, such as our Dahlia sale, Lavender U-Picks, and Pumpkin Party. Our Giving Garden donates organic produce weekly to area food banks: last year, we produced over 2,000 lbs of produce to help feed our neighbors.

Your gift will help us continue this tradition of breaking bread with each other, our friends, and our neighbors. Next year we planned to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the P-Patch program—and the 49th anniversary of our garden—with an evening of pizza and music.
