WSU Veterinary Internship to Guatemala 2023

Hi! My name is Ava, and I am a junior at Washington State University and am studying animal science pre-vet. I was fortunate to join an amazing club on campus called VAW global health alliance. Throughout the semesters we will be taking classes on primary medical care for animals and Spanish. In May we are traveling together to Guatemala, for two weeks, to offer veterinary care to the community and their animals. This trip is quite extensive and because of that it is also expensive. Any donations towards this cause are greatly appreciated! This trip is very important to me. Not only will it broaden my experience with veterinary care, but it will bring help and much-needed medicine to a community not as fortunate as most.

"Join the WASHINGTON STATE UNIVERSITY chapter as they lead a Veterinary Outreach Internship to GUATEMALA this upcoming SUMMER! Interns will work in mobile clinics, where they will have the opportunity to take patient history, and basic vital signs, shadow veterinarians, learn about the importance of different animals in locals' lives, and much more!

VAW Global at WSU will be opening up mobile veterinary clinics for local communities as well as assisting local animal care facilities during their time in GUATEMALA!

One of the most exciting and important parts of interning with VAW Global is bringing medication to the less fortunate. In 2019, VAW Global treated over 35,000 patients and we aspire to treat over 45,000 in 2022. One of the things that make our mobile clinics unique is that we not only triage and diagnose patients but also provide them with the basic medications needed. Fundraising for medications is a huge part of creating a successful mobile clinic to help the local communities with effective care."

Total for trip = $1,995.00 which covers interns' housing, food, clinic transportation, and staff while in the host community. Program fees also cover transportation to and from the airport in the host country.

Airfare is not included.
