Hi, my name is Steven Arnold. I am the writer and co-director for an upcoming short film, A Sudden Death.
We are a small group of passionate filmmakers hoping to create a 15-20 min thought provoking horror film. See treatment below.
Treatment
When a dead body is discovered within a home with no obvious foul play this is referred to by police as "A Sudden Death".
Police Constable Davis is sent to the scene of a sudden death one late night. After consoling the distraught flatmate Mary, who found the body, Davis sets to work to see if this was a natural death.
Being alone in a room with a dead body is unsettling for anyone, but has Davis done this one too many times that his mind is playing tricks on him?
With lights cutting out and the rotting corpse disappearing and reappearing, a panicked Davis decides to flee. But his duty of care gets the better of him and he returns to stay with the flatmate Mary until a family member collects her.
Mary probes Davis with questions about how he copes with what he sees and how he can stand the smell.
Davis explains that the smell of death clings to everything, his clothes, skin, and he'll even smell it for a couple of days after.
After Mary leaves it becomes clear that this death is clinging to Davis in more ways than one.
As a former police officer I can attest to some of the gruesome things officers see in their day to day roles. It's our hope that this film will not only entertain but raise awareness for depression and mental health, not only for those who work in the police but also the general public as well.
Donations will go towards covering actors and crews expenses, props and makeup effects.
All contributors and sponsors will be seen in the credits of our film, as it couldn't have been made without your support!
Thank you all so much.
