All donations will go to LICADD, Long Island Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence.
For over 59 years, LICADD has successfully delivered evidence-based programs designed to prevent and treat substance abuse and addiction. LICADD offers crisis intervention, screening, brief interventions, referrals to treatment (SBIRT), and planned family interventions to local residents struggling with addiction.
Family, Individual and Workplace Chemical Dependency Interventions: professionally guided educational and motivational processes that help a family or workplace “team” prepare themselves to approach a loved one in a clear, respectful, and loving way about their drug and/or alcohol use, with the immediate goal of encouraging them to accept help. Family members are given the tools to care for themselves and the identified patient, if agreeable to treatment, is given the proper assistance to access competent, affordable treatment on demand.
Family Education and Support Series: professionally facilitated workshops designed for families who are living with someone who is actively abusing substances. This three-part series will address the disease of alcoholism and drug addiction; the role of the family; and treatment modalities for addiction. Conducted in a supportive group setting, we encourage entire families to attend together. Completion of our series is often a first step towards conducting a planned family intervention.
Chemical Dependency Evaluations and Treatment Referral Services: provides on- and off-site professional alcohol and drug related consultation, guidance, and custom-tailored treatment referral services for adolescents, adults, and families.
Relapse Prevention Services: provides individualized recovery coaching, case management, and relapse prevention groups, creating a safety net of aftercare and support services following substance abuse treatment. LICADD’s certified relapse prevention professional staff can help recovering individuals successfully transition from inpatient treatment back home or into a sober living environment.
Prevention through Education: provides alcohol and other drug risk education for individuals, families, and communities from kindergarten through adulthood. Our evidence-based programs include elements of Too Good for Drugs and Teen Intervene. Our Student Assistance Program delivers comprehensive services to educators, parents, and high school students. Our educational services include adolescent evaluations, elementary and middle school interactive modules, support services for children of addicted parents, and parent-child communication workshops. A broad range of problem-solving presentations can be custom designed and delivered upon demand for higher education institutions, business groups, faith-based, and community organizations.
Anger Management Program: professionally facilitated program designed for individuals struggling with anger. Through the use of an evidence-based program, we educate clients on eight different coping skills for mitigating their anger. The goal of this program is not to eliminate a person’s anger, but to teach him/her how manage it. We work with adults and adolescents on their anger issues. A full range of attendance options are available, including a 12-week program, an 8-hour one day class, and individual anger management coaching. Our program is court approved and is certified by the National Anger Management Association (NAMA).
Eating Disorder Support Group: provides education addressing positive coping skills, body image and a healthy relationship with food. Focus on what is eating YOU, not what you eat. Open to men and women ages 18 and up.
Mentoring Services: LICADD’s BUDDY Mentoring Program delivers a wide range of support services to at-risk children of incarcerated women helping to break the multi-generational cycle of addiction and incarceration. BUDDY provides these children opportunities to develop a trusting relationship with a supportive adult and a stable environment that can promote healthy values and strong families.
Criminal Justice System Alliances: implements state-of-the art diagnostic evaluations, recommendations, and treatment referral services for county attorneys, criminal courts, probation services, and the NYS Department of Motor Vehicles in connection with substance disorder offenses.
Open Arms Employee Assistance Program: Open Arms Employee Assistance Program: Long Island’s oldest and most established non-profit EAP provides confidential crisis intervention services, evaluation and assessment, brief interventions, screened referrals, and follow-up services for a broad spectrum of personal concerns for employees of Long Island’s companies, labor unions, and school districts. In addition, we offer engaging and cutting edge workplace training programs on leadership, team-building, human resources, wellness and customer service. We offer EAP and training services on Long Island, in New York City, and across the Eastern seaboard.
Advocacy Initiatives: works to increase awareness of, and lessen the potential impact of, alcoholism and drug dependence. Through our collaborative efforts, we strive to shape public policy and practice in ways that support healthy and safe individuals, families, schools, and communities. LICADD was proud to take a lead role in passage of New York State’s 911 Good Samaritan Law and pushed hard for passage of ISTOP legislation.
