Denise Black Lahaina Loft

At this point, we are painfully aware of the horror that occurred on Maui, August 8th, 2023. As a result of wildfires so many people, families, and businesses have been devastated and are reeling. One such person/business is Denise Black and her company, Lahaina Loft.

From when we first met her years ago Denise Black has been the friend that is always there, pure support. Through good times and bad, she is a rock. The difference between Denise and many others is her internal call to action. She hears of a situation; she comes to the rescue. This has been done at Lahaina Loft and even more often as a friend. She knows no other way.

Through her businesses and friendships, she is the backbone of so many celebrations, causes and community support events. It is impossible to recall how many life moments she has envisioned, organized, and managed from beginning to end. For example, in 2018, a Lahaina Strong fundraiser was held at Lahaina Loft for families in need from that fire. She would be the first in line to do that again today. Recently, during Covid, Lahaina Loft was the support kitchen/location for Chef Collective for Covid which assisted in food deliveries for Kapuna and those in need. The kitchen was also used as a support for other small businesses in the community. The lanai was open to the community for many Lahaina town celebrations. This includes viewing events such as classic car cruises, Halloween, the 4th of July, and the King Kamehameha parade, to name a few. And, in true form, she was helping to find missing people, was out organizing donation efforts, and supporting others the day after discovering her building was no longer standing. Further, she will undoubtedly be strongly engaged in many rebuilding efforts.

As a result of her extensive efforts, she has been awarded both local, Business & Local Businessperson of the Year. She has been formally recognized for outstanding wedding coordination efforts supporting friends and family alike.

This week Lahaina Loft was leveled. There is nothing left but ash. She has a family to support and now she needs all of us. We hope to use this platform to gather some funds to support her until she can get back up on her feet. We appreciate anything you may be able to contribute. Thank you so much for your kindness towards her and her family during this extraordinarily difficult time.
