West Valley FOP #4 to Police Week

In 1962, President Kennedy proclaimed May 15th as Peace Officers Memorial Day, paying tribute to law enforcement officers who lost their lives in the line of duty. In May of 2017, as part of National Police Week in Washington DC, the names of those who made the ultimate sacrifice are added to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Wall.
Officer Cody Brotherson of the West Valley Police Department (Utah) was tragically killed in the line of duty on November 6th, 2016. Brotherson was a friend to all, and a dedicated servant to the community he was raised in. He was laid to rest on November 14th with full police honors. In May his name will be etched in stone as one of the fallen, but never forgotten.
Nationally the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) sponsors Police Week events which draw tens of thousands to our nation’s capital. The West Valley FOP Lodge would like to send 25 officers to escort Officer Brotherson’s family to Washington DC. Family and colleagues will honor his sacrifice and participate in a number of formal events which include the annual Blue Mass, Candlelight Vigil, Wreath Laying Ceremony, and National Police Survivors Conference.
All funds collected will be used for airfare and lodging of the police officers. Any residual funds will be donated by the FOP to Cody’s fiancé. An unexpected tragic event like this is impossible to plan for and these types of expenses are not covered through the budget of the police department. Our goal is to raise $30,000 and we’re reaching out to ALL supporters of law enforcement from our community and throughout the nation. Thank You and God Bless.
