Please help me keep my best friend

Hi my name is April and in Feb 2024 I escaped an abusive, controlling relationship. When I escaped I took my service dog, Stella and my other Labrador, Thor.

My ex hired a private investigator to find me and is suing me for Thor. He doesn’t want him, he wants the control and power. See, he paid partly for Thor but since getting Thor, I trained and cared for him. His microchip and all the vet records are under my name.

I need help to hire an attorney to ensure I keep Thor. He is bonded to me (I call him my Velcro dog) and Stella. Since we escaped my ex, his anxiety diminished, he no longer hides in his cage and he is happy boy who goes on daily walks to the dog park (he even went for his first swim!).

My ex used Thor as a pawn for control- when he was mad, he would barricade Thor and prevent him from being with Stella and I. And he is trying to do the same thing now.

I also am filing a protection order for our safety since he now has my new address (I moved several states away).

Please help keep my family together- I don’t have close family so Thor and Stella are all I have. They are who I spend my holidays with, I celebrate their birthdays and they are my world.
