Hello all,
I am the step-mom of Mike DeRusso and Erin Steigleder and the grandma to their newborn son, John Allen (who we lovingly refer to as Little Bird), who incidentally is named after my late husband, John James (J-Bird).
On October 25, 2015 Little Bird decided it was time to join Mom and Dad and baby sister 6 weeks early. Weighing in at 4 pounds 3 ounces, Dad and Little Bird were taken via Flight of Life Colorado to Children's Hospital in Denver while Mom had to stay in recovery in Casper. The reason? Little Bird needed a special ventilator that wasn't available in Casper.
Little Bird is getting better and Mom and baby sister are on the way to join him and Dad in Denver. The reason for this campaign is to help with expenses, thus feathering Little Bird's nest. Mike works in Casper and is unable to work while caring for Little Bird while in Denver and obviously, Mom will be busy caring for Little Bird and big sister. Aside from having to pay for a hotel while waiting to get in to Ronald McDonald house, they will have every day expenses, like food, rent, and God knows what else. I'm also unsure of how long the DeRusso clan will need to remain in Denver until Little Bird can fly the coop back to Casper.
I'd like to begin raising funds for Little Bird as soon as possible so that the money can get to his Mom and Dad right away.
I have been Mike's step-mom officially since October 2001. He is an amazingly hard working man and a wonderful father to his daughter. I am biased, I know, but this is a man you would want to know in life. I am asking for help on behalf of Mike and Erin's family and friends. Erin has been a blessing in our lives ever since she met Mike. She is a kind, gentle, beautiful soul and I'm so thankful she is Mike's partner in life.
I can't even express how thankful we would be. Just five dollars could help make a difference. May God bless you all.
