Stacy's friends and friends of friends are uniting to help her and her family during this difficult time. Stacy is an amazing mom of 4, the littlest just about to enter Pre-Kindergarten. In 2012 she was diagnosed with Systemic Lupus though has been suffering with it for about 6 years now.
This is an autoimmune disease where the body attacks healthy tissue. It has not been kind to Stacy either with it affecting her digestive tract in pretty terrible ways. Stacy has undergone multiple surgeries and procedures including having her colon removed due to the disease. This is the kind of disease where things tend to keep getting worse especially if not treated. With how it attacks the body, complications can compound on themselves making it hard to treat individual issues and requiring a web of medications. With all the damage it causes her digestive system it is almost impossible to have a real meal and enjoy it even without the strong chance of it turning out bad. No one should have to live like that.
The local hospitals so far at best have been able run tests and help when she has been in critical need with frequent and expensive ER visits. She has had major disappointments too, failures from the hospitals and doctors to additionally complicate things between doctors quitting on her and drug interactions not checked. There is a hope though! Stacy has visited the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio and those doctors have been working on treatments for her digestive issues! It was the first time in a long time someone seemed to understand her issues. There are plans to go back there, it being a bit of a trip but critical to do now.
Their family needs helps though. All of the medication, the procedures, the terribly large number of ER visits and the cost to get to the Cleveland Clinic have already caused a large financial burden. With over $10K in medical expenses already we are looking for a few good people (ok, hopefully alot of good people) to help her and her family out! They have a 1 income family with 4 adorable kids to support. We want to raise money to help them with the medical bills and pave a way forward towards visits to the Cleveland Clinic, to help her keep challenging the debilitating disease!
