Earnest Thomas (E.T.) Roberts was drafted into the United States Army from his home town of Seminole, Oklahoma in February, 1943.  He served with the 29th Infantry Division, 115th Regiment, C Company in Europe.   On June 6, 1944, now known as D-Day, he landed on Omaha Beach in the second wave of soldiers.  He sunk into the ocean immediately after jumping from the landing craft, losing his flame thrower and all the other equipment he was carrying. E.T. managed to get ashore, find a rifle and survive the onslaught of German gun and cannon fire that day.  A few weeks after D-Day he was wounded in The Battle of Saint-Lo (one of the three conflicts in the Battle of the Hedgerows) and 28 days later he returned to the front lines with the 116th Regiment. He fought through the Battle of the Bulge all the way to Berlin, completing 178 days in combat. On D-Day, 215 of the men in his company were lost. E.T. Roberts is a hero who is a recipient of a Purple Heart and 5 Bronze stars. He completed his service in April, 1946. To this day he is proud to be a part of the Blue and Gray 29th Infantry Division.
Today he is 95 years old and has just shy of $65,000 in mortgage payments to pay off on his mobile home. We are fundraising to take this burden off of his shoulders.  He served our country with courage and honor and is one of the very few WWII veterans we have left.
