In early May we heard words that no person, let alone parent ever expects or wants to hear: Your son has cancer.
Since adopting Avin, he has had routine testing done annually. Unfortunately the recent tests led to more testing, revealing that Avin has multiple tumors in his liver. The treatment for him is a liver transplant but he will be having chemoembolization procedures (TACE) every 6-8 weeks to keep the tumors small and from spreading while we wait for a liver transplant.
In early June, Avin was placed on the UNOS transplant list. There has also been an amazing response from potential living donors. We are praying and believing that Avin will be receiving a new liver soon.
Once he receives his transplant, he will recover in the hospital for 2-3 weeks. After we are discharged we will need to live within an hour of Seattle Children’s hospital for up to 3 months.
This fundraiser is to provide financial assistance for medical, travel and living expenses associated with his treatment and recovery.
As you can imagine, this is hard and heavy news for our family, but God is good no matter what and we are experiencing peace that can come only from Him. We are thankful for all the prayers, words of encouragement and support extended to us during this time.
