Have a Heart for Heather

Like many of us, Heather Jacoby Ross is a wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend, and employee. Unfortunately for Heather, she is also fighting cancer…for the third time.  On September 9th, 2019, Heather’s doctors discovered she had invasive lobular carcinoma (multicentric malignancy) in her right breast. Based on her medical history, and the very large size of the group of tumors, the surgeon elected to perform a bilateral mastectomy.  During the operation, cancer cells were discovered in her sentinel lymph node, which stages her cancer at 2B to 3, depending on further testing. She is now undergoing a 20 week schedule of chemotherapy, which will be followed by 6 weeks of radiation and additional surgeries.

Along with her husband Brian of 23 years, Heather is raising their son Nico and two daughters Kenndra and Angel, while suffering from all of the side effects of her treatment.  Her treatment plan will keep her away from her beloved teaching job at DePaul School for Dyslexic Children for at least 1 year.  During this time Heather will not receive any pay and she will need to pay her full cost of cobra insurance coverage.  In addition to the stress of being ill and unable to work, the medical bills are piling up and her financial stress is overwhelming.

Having already suffered a molar pregnancy, resulting in a large malignant uterine tumor, and currently keeping her thyroid cancer at bay with medication, she is strong and determined to fight this recent diagnosis.  Heather’s spirit and outlook is always positive and she tries her best to see the bright side of all situations. She would never ask for a dime from anyone, because of her pride, so we are asking everyone that reads this to consider helping Heather’s family out financially.
