Rudy’s Fight

Fighter: a person who does not easily admit defeat in spite of difficulties or opposition.
Rudy is a fighter inside and out. Diagnosed with esophageal cancer in 2016, Rudy fought his way through that and overcame one of the most challenging surgeries in March.
Rudy was hospitalized on February 16, where he was showing stroke like symptoms. He was taken to the hospital early enough that cognitively wise he is doing great. He is alert and oriented. However, the scans and MRIs that were done showed tumors in the front and the back of his brain that are cancerous. These tumors are creating stroke like symptoms. On Sunday, February 17th, a very exhausted Rudy was transferred to Massachusetts General Hospital where the Oncology team from 2016 could consult and form a care plan for him whether it was surgical or radiation/chemo. After meeting with the Oncology team, it has been confirmed that he will undergo surgery on the front right side of his brain, as it is a fairly large mass. The Neurosurgeon is performing surgery on February 21st and lasts about 6 hours; following surgery, he will be in the ICU for about 2-3 days.
The White family are such humble people and they are so busy with being at the hospital, that I am starting this page to try and collect some donations to pay for expenses during this stressful and exhausting time. Please consider donating even if it’s a small amount, everything will build up over time. The White family thanks you in advance! We will continue to update you as updates come in!
