EBBTIDE: Care for Douglas Reeman
Donation protected
Dear friends and fans of Douglas Reeman, the master story-teller of the sea: the following notice was published yesterday in the London "Times" and the London "Telegraph".
REEMAN, Douglas Edward, Lieutenant-Commander, Royal Naval Reserve, crossed the Bar peacefully at home, on January 23, 2017, after a long illness fought with characteristic courage and gentleness. Best-selling author under his own name and as Alexander Kent, creator of the Richard Bolitho series. Loved beyond words by his wife Kimberley, and cherished friend to so many around the world. Enquiries to Lodge Bros, Cobham, Surrey. Tel 01932 450 360. "Come, cheer up, my lads, 'tis to glory we steer." Go with God, dearest of men.
.........................................................................................................
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ebbtide on GoFundMe, which will close on February 15, 2017, or to the Princess Alice Hospice, Esher, Surrey.
His books have touched so many people all over the world, in every walk of life, for more than fifty years, and his heroes, notably Richard Bolitho, embody the values of their creator: honour, compassion, duty, courage and sensitivity.
I thank every one of you for your kindness and generosity, and I will do everything in my power to keep his flag flying, his legacy alive, and his books available to be enjoyed for years to come.
May God bless you all for your warmth, friendship and support for his books throughout the years.
Kim Reeman
