No More: National Rally Against Violence

Donation protected
28 Women have been murdered to violence since 2024, that is more than 1 per week. WWYW National Rally has been created by individuals across every state/city in Australia as a response to this national emergency.

All people working on this project are unpaid/volunteer and want to see real change be made within our government, systems and communities. We want these rallies to be as safe and as effective as possible, and unfortunately to do so certain things cost money. Due to this we have collectively agreed on making a Go Fund Me page to ask the community for help.

Where will your donation be going?

Welcome to Country: We think having a welcome to country by a Traditional owner of the land, per each rally (where possible) is essential. As a Black led organisation, paying our respects to the land we are gathering and marching on is very important. These can range from $300-$800 per one.

  • Security guard costs: We want to ensure the safety of patrons and in doing so we would like to hire some security guards, in addition to having local police present.

  • Equipment: Some of our locations do not have the access to PA's etc. A portion will be allocated to these locations to ensure they are set up properly on the day.

  • Permits/Council Fees: Many cities require permits for public gatherings, which incur fees.

  • Accessibility: Providing accommodations for people with disabilities, such as Auslan interpreters, accessible facilities, or transportation.

  • Refreshments: Water, hydration items for participants, to ensure they remain hydrated.

  • Volunteer Support: T-shirts, badges, or other items for volunteers to identify themselves and assist with organising the event.

  • Miscellaneous Expenses: Miscellaneous expenses might include office supplies, permits for amplification equipment, or unexpected costs that arise during planning.

What Were You Wearing Australia (WWYW) is an Indigenous led not-for-profit organisation fighting to end sexual violence. We run a range of services from support groups to festival safe spaces, forever advocating for victim-survivors. Our organisation unfortunately cannot fund this rally as much as we wish we could.

We are not funded by the government and all donations we receive go to our healing groups and other services.

The dates will be listed on our website www.whatwereyouwearing.org.

The proposed dates are between 26-28 April 2024 :)
