Munro Challenge for Wee Jamie’s Journey
Donation protected
Hi, My Name is Wee Wido. On the 18th and 19th of July 2024 myself and a group of other Men and Women will be taking on the gruelling challenge of bagging THREE munroes in 48 hours!
The team and myself are doing this in aid of “Wee Jamie’s Journey”
On the 30/03/2022 “Wee Jamie” was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, Also Known as DMD. It
is a terminal illness which is found mainly in boys , it effects approximately 1 in 5000 live male births.
DMD is a muscle wasting disease which effects all muscles in the body including lungs heart and brain.
This means that Jamie will have to face a lifetime of struggle, will be wheel chair bound between 8-10 years old and would deteriorate infront of our eyes , with the average life expectancy of mid 20s.
There is currently no cure for this disease
Jamie can get a specialised treatment in South America every 4 months. This treatment will cost around £60,000 annually and will help us slow this disease down hopefully giving Jamie a better chance and quality of life, which is all any of us ever want for our kids at a bare minimum.
So this group that we have put together all have a goal to help cover as many of these costs as possible for Jamie’s Family to at least help them sleep a bit better at night without wondering how they are going to finance these trips to keep their boy fighting this disease in the hope that they find a cure one day!
We are going to be tackling 3 munroes, Namely, Ben Cruachan, Stob Daimh and then Ben Nevis.
We have some experienced Hill Walkers and Munro baggers on the team but also a fair few inexperienced or very inexperienced walkers but no matter the level of experience this is going to be a hard task for everyone involved.
Absolutely anything you can spare to help motivate us for this trip and to help Wee Jamie and his family is greatly Appreciated and I and everyone else involved will be forever grateful.
