Support Austin Buddhist Vihara's Expansion

Austin Buddhist Vihara is excited to inform that we have launched a project to expand the temple to create more functional spaces for spiritual activities and we are reaching out to you with hopes of securing your generous contribution.

Austin Buddhist Vihara has been a sanctuary of spiritual growth and cultural enrichment for our community since 2006. The current building, constructed in 1972, is now 52 years old and cannot adequately accommodate the increasing number of devotees and visitors. While the need for additional parking spaces and toilets is essential, the primary objective of this expansion is to create more functional spaces for spiritual activities. We aim to provide a serene environment where devotees can participate in Dhamma sermons, meditation sessions, Sunday school activities and various religious gatherings comfortably.

To address these pressing needs, we have envisioned the below plan to execute as soon as possible.

Phase 1

Purchase the property behind the temple and convert it to monks’ residence. The owner has shown the interest of selling this property to us.

Estimated Cost: $425,000.00

Phase 2

Renovate and restructure the current building by converting the existing bedrooms to add more functional spaces for spiritual activities.

Convert the 2 existing bathrooms for devotees/visitors’ use.

Estimated Cost: $100,000.00
