1/24/2020 - I did it! I got the surgery! I did so by accepting help from my elder sibling who was willing to take out a loan since they have really good credit, don't care a lot about money, and just... they're so good. I couldn't be more grateful.
Unfortunately, they're going to have to push back their own transition now. I didn't realize when I accepted their help, but their plan now is to pay off the debt and then look into taking out another loan to get themselves on HRT. I want to help them. So now this GoFundMe has basically the same goal: Pay for my top surgery so my sibling doesn't have to suffer for it. Indirectly, we're paying for their HRT. Please share and donate for them! Hey, I'm Alex (deadname omitted), a 20 y/o AFAB genderfluid often-guy with crippling chest dysphoria that I hope to get rid of in the coming months. I've been given a quote of $11,000 for the surgery, and I have a consultation appointment on the 10th of December (2019) with Dr. Schierle at Northwestern Plastics in Chicago. [Edit: Price confirmed! Lowered to $9,000.] Someone close to me has considered taking out a loan to help me pay for it, so this GoFundMe may in part be used to ease the debt. I'm getting this surgery no matter what. [Edit: Debt confirmed! They can take out a loan for me so I'm getting the surgery January 16th. Debt's running at 11.15% interest, and now I know that taking out this loan has pushed back their transition until we can pay it off. I'm excited, but I don't feel good about that.
