Help Cheyenne graduate

Hi everyone, my name is Cheyenne Polius and I am coming to the end of my Integrated Masters in Physics and Astrophysics with Employment Experience in the UK. That's just a fancy way of saying I did my Bachelor’s degree and Master's degree in one go and took a year out to work as I secured a 12-month internship with the UK Civil Service. But I need your help to graduate. I need to pay my last tuition instalment by June 24 to be able to graduate with my class. I’m an international student so all my costs up until this point have been covered by my parents/loved ones and my income from part-time and temporary work. I know it has been a strain on my parents to support me financially so during my 12-month placement, I saved enough to cover all my living costs and 3 out of 4 of my tuition instalments this year. This is the last one and I don’t have enough in my savings to cover it and my parents no longer have the financial means to cover the full cost. I sought out another part time job but those quickly disappeared once the pandemic shut everything down. I looked into charities and funding agencies but I couldn’t find any that I was eligible for that would cover this amount. This is my last resort.

Anyone who knows me will tell you that pursuing this degree has been my dream for a long time now. I've worked hard throughout my course and maintained a high average (equivalent to 3.5 GPA) while participating in extracurricular activities and holding multiple part-time jobs. I have received departmental and university-wide recognition for my exceptional efforts both in and out of the classroom. In 2018, I was awarded the departmental prize for participation in voluntary activity whilst achieving excellent academic results. I was also featured on my university's "Wall of BAME" as they recognised the efforts of Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) staff and students. You can find this feature here: https://www.sheffield.ac.uk/inclusion/race-equality/wall-bame/cheyenne-polius

My niche subject area and outreach efforts to build an appreciation for Space in my home island of St Lucia allowed me the honour of launching a regional campaign for the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS). This campaign recognises inspirational young people on the path to great achievements and you can read my article here: https://pressroom.oecs.org/oecs-yes-in-action-highlights-cheyenne-polius. I am also the President and Co-founder of St Lucia's first National Astronomy Association, which is an initiative to continue building that island-wide appreciation for Space and provide an avenue for Astronomy and Science enthusiasts to connect.

These are just a few of my achievements but I hope that they highlight the fact that it's so much more than a degree to me. I am extremely passionate about what I do and I have poured my heart and soul into my dream of being an Astrophysicist. I have been looking forward to my graduation day for years now and it would break my heart to see my degree withheld for something that is completely out of my control. I know this is a difficult and uncertain time for everyone right now but it would mean the world to me if you could help. If you can't donate, please share this with family and friends! Thank you in advance for your support!
