Wylie Fastpitch Softball
Donation protected
Wylie Fastpitch Softball is a youth softball league dedicated to promoting, organizing, and conducting competitive softball for girls 5-18 years old and tee ball for boys & girls 2-4 years old.
Just prior to the start of the 2015 spring season, the board of directors of WFSA discovered that a substantial amount of money was missing from the league's bank account. The former president has been arrested and charged with second degree felony theft.
WFSA has been working day and night to provide a successful season for the young people in Abilene, Texas despite the huge financial setback.
Our league consists of a dozen volunteer board members, over thirty teams with dozens of coaches (also volunteers) and hundreds of players. Our goal is to give the kids a beautiful, safe place to play ball. The people willing to donate their time, energy and expertise are at the heart of what we do, but those people can only take us so far.
Where does the money go? The annual expenses for operating the league add up to over $20,000.
- $7000 umpire fees (spring and fall ball)
- $1500 scheduling fee for umpires
- $4000 registration and ASA insurance for players
- $1500 to stock concession stand for spring season
- $1500 to stock concession stand for fall season
- $2200 team shirts for spring season
- $600 trophies for spring season
- $1400 ice machine lease
- $480 lights usage fees during tournaments
Added to the above are numerous other expenses, including supplies for field maintenance and upkeep/improvements for the softball complex.
Wylie Fastpitch Softball is a 501c3 non-profit and all donations are tax-deductible. We have taken measures to ensure that this type of thing will not happen again, and you can rest assured that your money WILL directly benefit the league.
Please help us make this the best year ever for softball in Wylie.
