Wymondham Sports Bar Charity Fundraiser

Wymondham Sports are proud to support our close friends Steve, Val, Justine and James in fundraising for the much-needed defibrillator, with any remaining fundraising going towards nelson’s journey.

The family have put these charities forward and have written a few words to explain, why they are so close to their hearts

Justine and James (Rian’s Parents)

Rian was born with a very complex heart condition which will require a lifetime of surgery and monitoring. In January he had his pacemaker surgery and recovered well, he will now have this for life and future surgeries will take place. The pacemaker monitors Rian’s heart rate constantly and in May his heart rate went extremely high. This meant a trip to Great Ormond Street and some difficult conversations about how dangerous things could be for Rian. If this episode was any longer this could have put him in a life-threatening situation. This came with no warning and could happen again. With such a complex heart condition things often change, and unfortunately Justine and James after lots of heart-breaking conversation with GOSH feel now is the time to purchase a defibrillator to have with Rian. These are not funded by the NHS and the cost can be around £1200. This has obviously been upsetting to hear and a harsh reminder of his condition.

We are truly touched that the Wymondham Sports Bar are happy to help us raise some funds, and a big thank you to Steve and Val for putting Rian’s funds forward. We hope as many as you as possible can get involved

As some of you will know, we lost our daughter Lisa in February and left two daughters aged 11 and 8 and they are currently being supported by Nelsons Journey which is an amazing charity to help children and young adults, Lisa had bowel cancer which spread to her liver. She was told in December 2023 that her chemotherapy didn’t help so she only had 3 months to live.

Wymondham Sports Bar have decided in order to raise these funds people can get involved in one of the following, a sponsored run, cycle or walk, so you can choose one of the following

Half marathon run

Half marathon cycle

10K walk

If you are unable to complete any of the above, there’s still plenty of ways to get involved. So please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
