To our dearest community of worm-patrons, worm-lovers, and extended worm-family, 

Due to city mandate, The Wormhole Coffee has closed our doors for the foreseeable future in an effort to help combat the spreading and strengthening of the COVID-19 global pandemic. We’re all in agreement with the powers that be and recognize this movement of shutdowns as the vital, ethical public health move. This is a damaging and scary development for any business owner, though ultimately, this is most endangering to our staff. 

Throughout this time of social distancing, however long it lasts, your friendly worm-staff will be navigating the treacherous landscape of unemployment. Being without income is, for many of us, a direct threat to our livelihood. As you’ve likely noticed, particularly if you’ve ever visited us on a Saturday or a Sunday, our crew works incredibly hard. I’d like to report that such exhausting efforts are fairly compensated, but the nature of the service industry doesn’t allow for such a reality. Speaking candidly, most of us have little to no financial cushion in place for this crisis and to afford the most rudimentary of living expenses, well, we’re looking to you, our community, for support.

The Wormhole Coffee is a beloved fixture of Chicago’s northwest side. We’re absolutely optimistic that our business will be able to recover from this blow and we can’t wait to get back to safe service. In the meantime, we would GREATLY appreciate your support for the everyday people who keep it running and keep it special. Any small donation helps. We miss you all very, very much!
