It is very difficult to relate Jake's story as this has such a tragic ending.  Jake was such a sweet loving dog.  When he was brought to the Humane Society he was barely able to stand yet wagged his tail when he saw you.  He would lie down for a tummy rub and kiss you while you were examinining him.   He was starving, weak, and dehydrated.  You see,  a very kind lady found him at the end of a 2 foot chain tied to a tree.   He had no shelter.  The water he had to drink was only what was caught in a small bowl when it rained.  Food on the ground was unrecognizable.   Filth was  everywhere.   This kind lady took him into her home to care for him.  She quickly recognized he needed major medical care that she was unable to financially provide.   Every time he ate or drank he would throw up.  She brought him to the Cherokee Humane Society for help.  We immediately took possession of him and made arrangements for veterinary care.  Jake was operated on the next day.  The Doctor  stated that he took a mass out of his intestines that looked like he had been eating dirt and rocks.  Unfortunately Jake was too weak to survive.

I only knew Jake for a short time.   His  happiness and joy has made a lasing impression on me.  I cannot write this page without crying for such a wonderful animal.   His life was not filled with love and kindness, but he gave that to others where ever he went.

That is why I have decided to write this go fund me page.  We are naming it Jake's Fund so we can raise monies in his memory to help the many other animals in Cherokee County that are mistreated, abused and abandoned.

In addition to Jakes medical bills we are currently careing for a little beagle that was hit by a car.  Gladys had a massive abscess that required surgery and drain tubes.   We are careing for Momma Dog who is 13 years old and allowed to breed with a much larger dog.  She came to us unable to deliver the puppies, massive infection inutero and near death.  That was about a month ago.  She has recovered from this but is heartworm positive and needs to be spayed.  We have 4 other heartworm positive dogs that have been treated or are waiting treatment.

Jake's Fund is designed to be an ongoing fund to treat the many animals that come to us with medical problems.    We need funds now to pay for Jake and the others we have agreed to treat.  The ones mentioned above are here now.  On average we treat two to three critical animals a month  for an average cost of $300  each in veterinary fees.
