Urgent US medical care required

On May long weekend 2014 Ryan had his first known seizure. Since that time he has experience multiple seizures per day and a migraine headache that has not left. Over the last 18 months Ryan has been hospitalized in Regina, Indian Head, Saskatoon and Toronto to undergo numerous tests and treatments with various specialists as they try to determine what is causing the seizures and headaches and how to treat them. With the seizures and headaches have come a variety of other neurological symptoms including vision and speech problems, balance and coordination issues, short-term memory loss, sleep problems, hearing issues and delayed cognitive function at times. Ryan has been unable to work since this all began.

At this point the neurologists in Canada seem to have run out of options and are suggesting Ryan be seen at the Diamond Neurological Clinic in Chicago, Illinois; to see if they can develop a diagnosis and treatment plan for Ryan.

Over the last 18 months Jen’s ability to work has been limited by the time it takes to care for Ryan, his hospital stays, travel for many doctors’ appointments, and the inability to leave him alone for long periods. On top of this given Ryan’s condition, she is the sole caregiver for their 2 year old Maycee.

Ryan and Jen are currently awaiting funding approval from SaskHealth for the medical portion of the trip to Chicago but even with approval they will be responsible for a good portion of the costs during the 10-14 days they are expecting to be in Chicago.

Jen is the first person to help anyone in need and I really hope we can show her how much her fmaily means to us by helping her out with these costs.
