My name is Larry Lessard and I am making a documentary film about my journey.
It is said that most people reach a physical peak in their lives. Some say that between 27 and 32 years old is the peak age for many professional athletes. I am 62 years old and trying to reach my peak this year by doing the most demanding thing I have ever attempted….and before arthritis takes my knees way for good. I want to cycle most of the way around the world in one year and it is going to push me to the limit. My university research in Mechanical Engineering is dedicated to recycling and reusing advanced materials and that goal is what will be pushing me to cross the planet. I will be visiting 20-30 universities and talking to some of the world’s top researchers about doing our part to save our planet. I will visit wind turbine sites and also see how different countries are adapting to renewable energy and other great ideas. The point-of-view of people from different countries and cultures is the best way to learn: “Travel and learning always go together”. I will document this journey into a feature-length film that will be both entertaining and an inspiring learning experience. All the fundraising will go towards funding the making of the documentary film.
