Medical Expenses for Caden Josselyn

April 2024 Update on Caden:

On April 2nd, 2024, Caden underwent his Glenn Surgery (his second out of three open heart surgeries). The surgery went well and although Caden is dealing with some pain, his recovery is going as planned.

Kasey and Andrew are doing the best they can juggling time at the hospital with Caden, being home with their 2 year old Nolan, and working. The hospital is about 2 hours away from their house, so they are doing a lot of back and forth.

Although Caden has a long recovery, we are hoping he can go home within the next week so the family can be together again.

Caden Benjamin arrived on October 23rd at 2:03 pm weighing 7.5 lbs and 19.65 inches long! Caden has a long road ahead of him, but we are so thankful for his healthy delivery and stable condition. Kasey is recovering well and Caden’s team of doctors are working to get the best plan in place for him.

Caden he has been diagnosed with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS), a congenital heart defect that affects the development of the left side of the heart. He will need a series of complex surgeries starting when he is just about a week old. The treatment plan for Caden is extensive and will be a very large financial commitment for the Josselyn’s.

Unfortunately, Kasey and Andrew are no strangers to heart issues with their babies. Their first son, Nolan, was born with ventricular septal defect and had open heart surgery at just 6 months old. Nolan’s surgery, while traumatic for the entire family, was necessary and successful and Nolan has been thriving ever since.

Caden’s condition is more serious than his big brother’s and will keep him in the hospital for a few weeks after he is born while he undergoes and recovers from his various surgeries.

We want to support his mom, dad and big brother as they take on this challenge. So far, Baby J is growing perfectly, measuring in the 81st percentile! We are hopeful he will make a full recovery from all of his surgeries and will thrive just like his big brother. Any help for their family will surely ease their mind and comfort them through this process!
