Dawson’s Journey
Donation protected
Dawson, who is an amazing son, friend, brother, and boyfriend, needs all the thoughts and prayers right now. A local to Lawrence, Indiana. A graduate of Lawrence Central High School, a graduate from Baldwin Wallace University, and soon to be graduate from the University of Indianapolis with his masters degree. Dawson is also an avid baseball player who has played his entire life, starting out at just 4 years old. At 23 years old and as healthy as can be, he was given the news no one wants to hear.
In September, Dawson noticed a strange lump that was worrisome. It was small but definitely should not be where it was. In October, he sought medical care and got bloodwork and ultrasounds done. Turns out this lump was testicular cancer, something none of us wanted to hear. We have learned testicular cancer is very common in men his age. So in October, Dawson was scheduled for surgery, and the lump was biopsied. It turns out that it is not your usual testicular cancer. Dawson was diagnosed with Pure Embryonal Carcinoma, a rare, aggressive type of testicular cancer that only 2-3% of testicular cancer patients get. He is seeing the best of the best to get proper care and nip this cancer in the bud.
From October to February, all of his blood work and scans have been clear up until February 11, where his bloodwork showed an increase from 0, which is showing growth of cancer somewhere in his body.
Now more treatment and more appointments have been in the works, and with the small growth of his mean tumor markers, he is now scheduled for an RPLD surgery on Tuesday, March 18.
As many of you know, Dawson has played baseball his entire life, and Saturday, March 15, will be his very last collegiate game. Very heartbreaking, so please keep Dawson and our family in your thoughts and prayers as we go through this journey with Dawson. Send all the good vibes and positive energy his way
We are fundraising to support Dawson's medical expenses and ongoing treatments.
This fundraiser is for Dawson, a beloved son, friend, brother, and boyfriend, who is battling a rare and aggressive type of testicular cancer.
