The Vagina Throne art project

Hello, beautiful people! I am Alisa Sokolov, I am a solo artist and global nomad without any funding or support since I also don't belong to any art institution at the moment. Using the provocative nature of the vagina theme, I bring attention to this project to tell stories that are important to me and to talk about crucial topics for modern society. As an artist, I want to make a transformation in the minds of the audience.

The Vagina Throne art project represents the exulted place women and femininity hold according to societal folklore juxtaposed to the reality of gender chauvinism in a world that continues to be dominated by patriarchy.

The Vagina Throne art project is dedicated to the problem of women's rights and freedoms abuse.

Even in today's world, states, politicians, bureaucrats, and religious figures, men make decisions and determine what will or will not happen to women. There is still a taboo of physiological issues, unconscious bashfulness, problems with judgment, body shaming, and aversion to the female body is an acute problem in many cultures and segments of the population. Despite many years of feminist endeavors and achieved results, humankind is still far from a world free from gender prejudice.

The visual impact of a throne made of vaginas on a regal dais will interact with the viewer's mind & psyche to stimulate discussions of the hierarchy of gender, the taboo of the female body, the place of women in society, the importance of freely given informed consent, abortion rights, female circumcision, issues of humanity in the industry of plastic surgery on female genitals under the imposed "standards" of beauty and fashion. I believe that my project can contribute to the feminist movement and support the struggle for equality. My project is socially important and does not offer any commercial orientation, in order for it to effectively fulfill its role and influence public opinion it needs help, and it is critical that as many people as possible become aware of it.

Why your help is needed?

The picture you see on this page is a Prototype. (Unfortunately, due to the current situation and restrictions this Throne can't be shipped to the USA from Israel) I have to start from scratch and create a new one plus the Vagina Throne is a complex art and consists of not only an antique chair but also high-quality materials such as cloth in different colors and natural pearls to manifest the unique shape of every creation of mother nature but also:

1st level of the dais is 4 pallets. The total area of the base is 240x160 cm. 2nd level of the dais is 2 pallets with a total area of 160x120 cm. 3rd level of the dais is one pallet 120x80 cm. The dais of the Vagina Throne will be covered w/ red velvet fabric surrounded by gold stanchions & red velvet ropes. The height of the dais is 42 cm. The total height of the structure is 154 cm. 8-meter Solar garlands illuminate the perimeter of the dais w/ The Vagina Throne illuminated by solar floods/spots. All components will be screwed together w/ The Throne legs screwed down w/ metal clips. The assembly will be rebarred to playa at all corners.
