Nova’s Fight Against Neuroblastoma Cancer

Hi, my name is Nicolette Stokes, I’ve made this fund raiser for our sweet baby girl Nova who has been recently diagnosed with Neuroblastoma cancer.

On Tuesday, March 22, 2022, our whole world changed in just a split second with just one word, “CANCER”.

Earlier that morning, I rushed Nova to Arkansas Children’s Hospital due to her being extremely tired, weak and nearly unresponsive. Upon getting checked in, the doctor noticed her tummy was swollen and her skin was also really pale. They checked her vitals, took an x-ray, ultrasound and did some blood work.

About what felt like an hour later, the doctor came in to let me know that the ultrasound showed 2 masses, 1 on each kidney. I was also told that her blood work came back abnormal and that she was severely anemic and would need a blood transfusion immediately. This explained her being nearly unresponsive.

The next day, a CT Scan was done on her abdomen and it was determined that there are 3 tumors in her stomach. The largest and most dominant one is about 7cm and sits on top of the right kidney, as well as 2 smaller tumors that are inside the left kidney. There was also an MIBG scan done and abnormal activity has been found in the skull, arms, legs and pelvis. As a result, Baby Nova will have to do chemotherapy urgently for at least 6 months.

This was devastating news and extremely hard for us to process. This couldn’t possibly be happening to our 9 month old baby girl! We are doing everything in our power to help Nova with this fight!
