Rob & Corrine Haack - Labor of Love

Donation protected

Seven years ago, my brother's wife Corrine was diagnosed with an inoperable lung cancer. After recieving chemotherapy and radiation she was able to live a relatively normal energetic life through her sheer determination and the tender mercies of the Lord. A year ago it was discovered that a new and more agressive cancer had invaded her esophagus. Initially it was thought that an operation to remove the esophagus would be possible to extend her life. Sadly, it was soon found that the cancer had spread to her thyroid and surrounding tissues and that there would be no treatment that would save her life.  The doctors had initially tried a couple rounds of chemo in an effort to give her a few extra months to live but the chemo was too taxing on her already weakended body so the treatments were stopped.

My brother Rob and their children have been caring for our dear Corrine for months but she was still able to move about, administer her own medications, feed herself through her feeding tube and shower and dress herself. Just this past week she took a turn which will now require that she receive round the clock care in these her final days and weeks. She is too weak to care for herself now.  Hospice has been providing limited care and support (an hour or so a day) but my brother will now need to be the primary care giver round the clock which  means that he will no longer be able to go to work and earn an income until such time that the Lord decides to takes his sweetheart to heaven.

In recent months there have been countless doctor appointments, emergency room trips, hospital stays which equate to high co-pays and deductibles and thousands of dollars in lost wages so their financial situation is already quite bleak. It is in this light that I am initiating this campaign to raise financial support to help sustain them and relieve some of the stress the family is facing as Corrine lives out her last days and weeks.

Thank you for your love, support and prayers!
