Original Post:
This is for Stephanie, one of those people you meet in life who just make you feel special and loved. I am blessed to have her as one of my closest friends. Those of you who know Stephanie will be shocked to learn that she had been diagnosed with a rare and fast growing cervical cancer at the young age of 39, the reason I have set up this page is because at the time of writing almost 8 weeks have passed since her diagnosis and the insurance company is refusing to pay anything significant towards her treatment. There is a specialist doctor here who can not only save her life but ensure that in the years after she would suffer from minimal long term side effects from the Radio and Chemotherapy.
Time is now very critical due to the aggressive nature of the cancer. Stephanie has been a hairdresser since she was 16 and now at 39 years has spent 23 years of her life making women feel special and always puts everyone else first. Anyone who knows Stephanie reading this will know how beautiful a person she is.
Now it is our turn to help her....any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated.
Stephanie's Treatment Cost: AED 310,000 / $82,000
AED 18,000 - PET CT Scan
AED 120,000 - External radiotherapy
AED 132,000 - Internal Brachytherapy radiotherapy
AED 40,000 - Chemotherapy
That’s if everything is straightforward and goes to plan.
Stephanie's case should also serve as a warning to all women reading this.
Basic medical insurance here does not include gynecological doctors visits and tests. Stephanie started having irregular and increasingly heavy continuous bleeding since September 2020. The previous gynecologist over a period of 8 months failed to identify that Stephanie had a very serious problem. Thousands spent on tests and doctors visits with no positive outcome. This doctor completely missed the large tumor that is growing in her Cervix. Had this doctor done her job Stephanie could have had a much less complicated surgery to remove the cancer. But now it is too big to operate on....
In July 2021 Stephanie visited another gynecologist who performed a physical exam was shocked with what she saw and then immediately called in a favour got her to meet with one of the top Gynae Oncologist Surgeons. 48 hours later Steph met with the Surgeon who performed a biopsy and within a week she was diagnosed with a stage 3B adenocarcinoma. This tumor is large (about the size of old can of coke) is inoperable and is growing fast.
So far the insurance has not reimbursed a single penny and Stephanie has paid for everything over the last 8 months from her savings. All Gynae visits, Surgeon visits, The Biopsy, MRI, CT Scan with Die, Oncologist consultations none of them covered by the insurance.
Thank you for reading this far and wish you good health.
