Support for Jane

In March, our dear friend and coworker, Jane Savoy was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer. Jane is a single mother of three, a cancer survivor, and a friend to all. She would do anything for any one of us, and now she needs our help.

First diagnosed in September of 2002, with 3 small children, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and within 5 days she had a mastectomy and 6 months of chemotherapy. Feeling confident they had gotten it all, 10 years would pass without complication. Then in 2012, she caught pneumonia and they found cancer cells on the outside of her lung but felt an estrogen blocker medication would do the job.

In February of 2023, feeling tired and unable to keep any food down for several months, Jane learned that her breast cancer had returned and metastasized to other areas of her body. The past few months have been difficult to say the very least. Days after starting chemo, Jane ended up in the ICU, where her glucose levels rose to life threatening numbers. During her 11-day stay, she developed blood clots in both lungs and her leg, and a PICC line was inserted to receive parenteral nutrition.

Recently Jane began a new treatment which will be given every 3 weeks, and scans will be done to determine the success rate of this treatment. Jane has a long road ahead of her.

Anyone fortunate enough to be a part of Jane’s life knows that she is kind and caring and a ray of sunshine to her family and friends. Working for Will County Habitat for Humanity has been her passion, as well as having the talent to make any space beautiful that she touches. Jane goes through life with positivity and a smile on her face. Her faith remains strong!

Jane would never ask for help, however, not knowing what the future holds with medical bills, future treatments, and the unknown, we would like to help relieve some of the stress and help her with the financial burden that lies ahead.
