RSPCA Bath for their work helping Saxon the Cocker Spaniel
On a freezing morning back in mid-January Saxon was found by someone walking to work. He had been abandoned chained to a post, was shivering cold and howling in distress.
No owner could be seen so Saxon was unchained and walked the short distance to his rescuer's place of work where he was warmed up and fed, though he constantly paced around looking for whoever it was who abandoned him.
As little more could be done there he was taken to a local vet who advised he was chipped but that the contact on the chip records did not answer the number registered when dialled.
The process then kicked in and he was left at the vets to be collected by the Wiltshire dog warden who took him to the RSPCA Cat and Dogs home in Bath, where further attempts were made to contact the registered owner by other means, but to no avail.
The RSPCA at Bath Cats and Dogs Home were brilliant, Saxon is pushing 14 years old so he’s getting on a bit for a dog and arrived there a little underweight, with a bad ear infection and teeth in very poor condition, all of which have been successfully treated.
This week (w/c 17th March) he is moving to a foster home where he will be in a calmer environment, away from the stresses of the main RSPCA site, and he has been posted on the Bath Cats and Dogs Home adoption site, looking for a forever home to spend his twilight years: https://www.bathcatsanddogshome.org.uk/adopt/saxon-spaniel-cocker
The RSPCA in Bath did a great job and put a lot of effort into getting this old chap into a condition where he can live out the rest of his life with someone who will care for him, and we'd like to give back to them so they can continue with their work.
Please donate what ever you can afford to help them do this.
Thanks.
